A more Detailed Explanation

I’ve always made recordings thereby amassing an audio archive of my life.  Every now and then I go back and listen to random recordings whether I’m simply waxing nostalgic or mining the archives for samples or sound clips.  I guess I’ve been preparing for a podcast since the early 2000s.  Since then I have been simply recording random noises and conversations, being driven by the fascination of the ambient noise of a room as well as studying the nuances of conversation in the hopes that it will help me in writing dialogue and just writing in general. This compulsion to record led to the development of a podcast. It just makes sense to join the podcast revolution. It’s a floor level view of the lives of struggling Midwest artists hanging out, living, and enjoying life. All we ever do is talk about music anyway, and to be able to do so in an uninhibited and uncontrived way is part of what is missing in mainstream media today.

Update on PHC Podcast 2-1-17

PHC, Inward and Onward

For now the Paleolithic Hunting Club is defunct in it’s previous capacity and no longer available on iTunes and Stitcher. However select episodes will be available on The Archive.

Certain audio projects will appear on this site and will be posted to The Archive.

Paleolithic Hunting Club was officially dismantled as a podcast on 10-10-16. The idea is evolving from a podcast to more of a long-term lifelong audio project.

Paleolithic Hunting Club is the next more focused phase of what began as an experiment in audio and music. What happened is that the set of recordings has turned into an audio autobiography. Also including a cast of other musicians and artists that I have been friendly with and collaborated with over the years.

Overall it has been in the spirit of independent experimental audio projects such as WFMU and the rise of the DIY podcast. The newer focus of Paleolithic Hunting Club is the intention of making episodic audio productions that capture music and moments. It’s alternative media, independently run, haranguing in the underbelly of the web. It is community audio.

Paleolithic Hunting Club Website

The concept of Paleolithic Hunting Club came from the coffee grounds in my cup one day.  There was this really unique design that caught my eye.

PHC Origin

An Attempted recreation of the coffee ground logo. I look for creative inspiration everywhere, especially in my coffee cup.  After sketching and observing the design the phrase Paleolithic Hunting Club came into my head.

This is the other side of the cup, the volcano side.
