Original blog entry describing the cabinets I was building.
New Year, new gear. Dinosaur Monster has a full on custom shop going, I’ve been busy custom building cabinets to have more tonal varieties. I built Brandon a 4×10 cabinet for his 66 blackface Super Reverb head (He swapped out the black tolex on the front for the oxblood grill). He’s got four Weber DT-10s, it sounds so sweet. He’s goin to use that rig for leads and his 63 Falcon for rhythm.
I’ve got a 2×12 Weber Silver Bell Blue Dog combo going on and a couple of 1×12 cabs with Weber Texas drivers. I’m not sure what I am going to use for the upcoming gig on February 11. We’ve been turning down lately so I really hope I can get away with using the 5 watt mode on my Mesa Express (5:50) with extension cabs. We’ll see. At the moment I am trying to resist the urge to buy more speakers. On to the next project, whatever that may be. I built a pedal board yesterday. I want to build something kind of weird or perhaps I could be practical and build some solid ass monitors. We’ll see I’ll let my muse guide me.
All of the speakers are built with White Pine and the baffle is 13 ply Baltic Birch. All of it is joined together and sealed with glue and cookies.
